Mary Alice Neilson and William H Puzey are the two youngest children of Lydia Pollard. It becomes evident that this daughter of Bishop Joseph Pollard has had a great posterity even while she was left a widow while relatively young. Here are her grandchildren by Mary Alice.
Velma Neilson Neville was born 26 Oct 1904 and passed away 7 May 1961. Her birth and death both occurring in Spring City, she is buried in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada with her husband David Neville (1900-1988). Married in Valier, Pondera, Montana they are parents to six children all born on Alberta: Ferrel David, b./d. 1921, June, Correne, Duane D., LaRee and Connie. I have not become informed about Velma and David, but see that the areas they lived are in an agrarian region.
Glendon LeRoy Neilson, for whom I have conflicting birthdates, I believe passed away in Douglas County, Oregon. I have his death listed in the Oregon Death Index, 1898-2008 as 22 Nov 2001 and of his wife Elizabeth Demarest as 2 Mar 2009. I believe they were parents of three daughters. [My conflicting dates are his birth on some reports as 1905 and others 1920. Such a discrepancy could mean I have two Glendon Leroy Neilsons, and I am not exempt from such errors, please correct me any time. It is more important to me to portray our family correctly than to believe I am finished with what I have.]
Ruby Rowena Neilson Hogan, born 18 Apr 1907 Spring City and deceased 21 Jun 1997 Salt Lake City was wife to Harold Rudy Hogan whose contracting career ended with a boating accident in 1965. Her obituary reflects a woman devoted to her family and faith, creative in needle crafts and gardening. They were parents to Kathryn, Barbara, Sharon and Charles Hogan, residents of the Salt Lake area.
Charles Verneal Neilson, referred to by Verneal, born 1909 and died 15 Apr 1992, both in Spring City and buried in the Riverside cemetery in Cache County with his wife Zelpha Bennett Neilson, 1911-2000. He has one child, I believe. I have gained no further biographical information at this point.
Cora Neilson was born in Spring City on 9 Aug 1911 and passed away in Cardston, Alberta on 28 Apr 1918, not quite aged 7 years.
Edna Neilson Wolsey Naef, 3 May 1914(Spring City) to 10 May 1999 (Portland, Oregon) had as her first husband Hugh Wolsey, with whom she was mother to three children before she married William Otto Naef in 1963. I find Otto passing away in Portland in 1994.
Harry Swen Neilson, 21 Jul 1916, Spring City to 15 Feb 1993, Hood River, Oregon was married to Eddis Russell in 1946. Eddis was born in Taber, Alberta 28 Jun 1926 and died 26 Aug 2000 in White Salmon, Washington. Harry is memorialized as "Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather" at the West Klickitat Cemetery in White Salmon. I do not have names at this point for his children, who number three, I believe. Harry and Eddis can be remembered at www.findagrave.com
Ada Neilson Marks was memorialized in Salt Lake City papers following her death May 18, 2008. She was born 13 Mar 1922 in Cardston after her family emmigrated there a year or so before. Ada also was known for her creativity and for her deep caring for family, which included four children at the time of her passing as well as 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grand children. She is buried in the Mt Calvary Cemetery in Salt Lake City.
Alice Neilson Crane, the last surviving child of Mary Alice and Carl Neilson is the widow of Robert John Crane. It is this family that has shared so much history on the Ancestry web sites, and have been so valuable to me. I realize I have not made contact with them directly, but know that I shall. Robert "Curly" Crane passed away in Provo in 2004. He and Alice were parents to 5 children.
William H Puzey gave Lydia two grandchildren; Garland, whose widow Anna Nell Bezzant was noted earlier when she passed away in Tremonton, Utah on 27 Mar 2010 and Macel P. Thurmond.
Garland William Puzey, 6 Mar 1910 to 7 Jan 1995, married Anna in 1933 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. His career took them throughout the state but is was in Tremonton in Box Elder county that they settled. Parents of three children: Robert G., William B. and Paul B. I have had valued connections through the years when one or another daughter-in-law worked with one or another of my nearer family. I have met Robert G. Puzey at the Ogden Regional Family History Center.
Macel Puzey Thurmond was memorialized in the Salt Lake City Tribune on Sunday July 29, 2001 as mother and best friend after she passed away the previous day, July 28. She was born in Carman Gay, Alberta on April 22, 1918. A graduate of Stevens Henegar Business school she met and married Robert Clark Thurmond while she worked at Steadman Air Base in Nevada. They married Sep 6,1942 in Reno, Nevada, enduring separation during WWII while Bob served in Europe. Macel and Bob were parents to one son, Jeffrey Clark Thurmond. Macel followed a career in the Salt Lake City area, including serving as an assistant to Governor Calvin Rampton and later as Deputy Director of the Utah travel council. After years of loving and active companionship Robert Thurmond passed away in 1973. They rest at the Valley View Memorial Park in Salt Lake.

Fanny Alberta Puzey, married Grant Bertress Christensen 2 August 1933. Grant passed away in Wellington Utah 16 October 1998. A farmer and coal miner he and Alberta were active in their community serving in many positions of responsibility and service. Parents of five children, Helen Allred, Elden, Janice Powers, Ned, and Joyce Powell. At the time of Grant's death they were grandparents to 21.
Charles Beck Puzey, born 13 March 1916, passed away 11 December 1999. Husband to Ruth Mildred Jensen 1921 - 2011, whom he married 5 February 1942. Their children are Ruth Jeane P. Dyches, Jerry Brent Puzey, Patty Lynae P. Doherty.
Edward LeGrand Puzey, 30 May 1918 - 18 Sep 1963, married Gladys K. Monsen, 26 Mar 1921 - 15 Jan 1995, married 9 Jun 1941, Nephi, Utah. Edward worked for Cudahy Packing Company. At his death he was survived by children Lynda, Julien and Kim. Edward and Gladys are buried in Spring City.
Willard Reid Puzey, married Bessey Christensen in 1941 She passed away 13 April 2011, aged 87. They are parents to Byron W., Vickie A., Jimmie E., and Shelley.
Alta Beth Puzey, married first Joseph Clyve Blain, 1942 and second Edmond George Foce, 1949. I find records of one Joseph Clyve Blain born 1947, died 2000, but have not connected him to this family definitively, Beth's other children are John E Foce, David C Foce and Mary Jane Foce who were all born in California.
Simon Nad Puzey passed away one month ago, I noted his passing at that time, not realizing I was coming up on his family so soon. Reading the comments shared in the on-line condolences I know Nad was much admired, deeply respected. I see also his respect for his heritage. Nad was a worker in industry and in artisan creation. Having owned construction and plastering companies he was known around the Salt Lake valley. His obituary also tells of lapidary skills that afforded him the opportunities to go around the state rock-hounding and being involved with organizations promoting this art and interest. Perhaps most, Nad was rancher and horseman. It seems that, like my own brother it was tied to a deep reverence for the Western "Cowboy Way" of carrying oneself, treating others, and caring for the land one stands on. Nad married Darlene Burt and they were parents to 8 children. They later divorced and Nad married Gwen Roundy. Nad's children are Nadalee (deceased) Noble, Holly Simmons, Rudy Puzey, Ted Puzey, Ned Puzey, Cindie McCann, Lori Cannon, and Linnie Spor.
